A chance to be inducted as the inaugural Malt Whisky Trail Master
Whisky lovers across the world are invited to complete the world’s only Malt Whisky Trail in Speyside, visiting all nine key distillery and whisky industry locations.
This summer, visitors to The Trail are asked to share a picture of their visit to each one of our nine whisky industry locations for a chance to become the first person to be inducted as a Malt Whisky Trail Master and win a luxury weekend break to Speyside for an exclusive Malt Whisky Trail Master’s tour.
As a global ambassador for Scotland’s whisky industry, The Malt Whisky Trail was founded in the 1950’s and takes in some of Scotland’s most famous distilleries. The Trail is made up of nine prime whisky industry locations, each in the heartland whisky region of Speyside. Moray Speyside is home to the world’s largest concentration of Scotch malt whisky distilleries and The Trail’s sites range from global brands to boutique producers.
The Trail promises visitors an immersive experience of whisky-making in Scotland and was transformed last year to help visitors re-imagine the trail as part of an eye-catching redesign and new digital destination geared towards increasing visitor footfall to the area by 10% over the next 5 years.
Ian Chapman, Board Member of The Malt Whisky Trail and Director at Gordon and MacPhail said:
“As part of World Whisky Day we we are inviting whisky lovers from across the world to visit each of our sites on the world’s only Malt Whisky Trail this summer and share their whisky adventure. Visitors on The Trail are asked to post a picture at each one of our key distillery and whisky industry locations with #MWTMaster for a chance to be inducted as the inaugural Malt Whisky Trail Master and win a luxury weekend break to Speyside. This will include an exclusive behind-the-scenes trip to our whisky locations to meet the masters who are guardians of generations of know-how on The Trail, only available to Malt Whisky Trail Masters.
The Malt Whisky Trail is an international icon of whisky tourism and features nine centres of whisky excellence. Home to the world’s largest concentration of malt whisky distilleries The Trail features historic and famous distilleries, coopers, bottlers, and retailers as well outdoor pursuits, luxury textiles and boasting legendary hospitality.
We urge whisky fans across the world to book their ticket for summer 2017 for their chance to win the whisky adventure of a lifetime and become the first ever Malt Whisky Trail Master.”

Jo Robinson, VisitScotland Regional Director, said:
“Whisky is one of Scotland’s biggest attractions, with one in five visitors making a trip to a distillery during their stay. It is therefore very important we continue to promote our world famous whisky heritage.
Set amongst the world’s largest concentration of malt whisky distilleries, The Malt Whisky Trail is a one of a kind attraction and I’m sure this will encourage even more visitors to experience ‘Malt Whisky Country’ and the many other attractions on offer in the Moray Speyside region this summer.”
