Benromach was established in 1898 and experienced many closures and changes of ownership before it was purchased by the Urquhart family, the owners of Gordon & MacPhail, in 1998.
The family’s dream to own a classic Speyside distillery saw them re-equip the site before it was re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998.
At Benromach their Single Malt Scotch Whisky is handcrafted and made slowly, the time-honoured way. Using the finest natural ingredients, three distillers orchestrate every second of the distillation process by sight, sound, touch and smell.
Types of Tour
Production at the distillery continues, and the distillery has produced a virtual tour so you can enjoy the Benromach experience at home.
Benromach is currently closed and undergoing renovations to its facilities, and is aiming to reopen in Spring 2022.
Benromach Distillery is tucked away at the top of Speyside, just north of Forres. Head north off the A96 just west of the Railway Station, go over the railway line and turn right on to Waterford Road. The distillery is on your left as you curve back round towards the railway.
