French Love Affair With Scotch

Posted on 29th September 2017

Did you know that the French drink more whisky than their national drink, cognac? Whisky has quickly overtaken wine and cognac as the country’s most popular drink, with the average person drinking an average of 2.15 litres a year – more than any other country.

That’s why the Malt Whisky Trail was at Whisky Live Paris last weekend enjoying the biggest tasting event of whisky and spirits in Europe to find out why the French are such huge fans.

It was great to see that Speyside was hands down the most popular part of the exhibition, with several of our sites taking part including Glen Grant, Benromach, Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet and Glen Moray from The Malt Whisky Trail

The exhibition in numbers:
10,000 visitors for Whisky Live
15,000 visitors on Cocktail Street
150 exhibitors
250 new products unveiled at the show

Jennifer Robertson was on location to interview some of the Speyside brand ambassadors to find out what makes the show so popular!

Brand Ambassador for The Glenlivet Laura Goodrum told us why more and more women are falling in love with whisky and working in the whisky industry, revealing what is it is like being on the The Glenlivet Graduate Programme.

Dennis Malcolm, Glen Grant Master Distiller took us on tour of their gorgeous virtual Glen Grant Garden exhibition even bringing the famous spirit safe from behind their waterfall, and Vincent Assie, Glenfiddich French Brand Ambassador, revealed why the new product Winter Storm is going down a …. storm.
