The Glen Grant distillery is located at the northern end of the village of Rothes, in the centre of the Malt Whisky Trail.
Set amongst beautiful gardens, the distillery was founded in 1840 by two brothers – James and John Grant. With the River Spey and the Moray Firth close by, as well as malt producing farms, Rothes was the perfect location for the Grant brothers. Today, Glen Grant is one of the world’s best selling whiskies, enjoyed across the globe. The distilleries standards are maintained by master distillery Denis Malcolm, who has worked at Glen Grant for over 50 years.
Visit Glen Grant
When he founded the distillery in the 1840s, James Grant celebrated the importance of the site’s water source by constructing a sprawling Victorian garden. The garden was recently restored, and now makes for a wonderful day out.
The Glen Grant distillery has a visitors centre on site, and runs guided tours throughout the week. Discover the craft of the distillers, and round off your day with a few drams in the distillery’s newly renovated tasting room.
