
The Distillery
Cardhu Distillery nestles in a picturesque setting in the heart of Speyside. The only distillery started by a women, Cardhu really does stand out with its unique history, and the product it makes. The light character of the 12yr old Cardhu is an excellent starting point for anyone starting on their whisky journey and the new additions to the family the Cardhu 15 and 18yr offer flavours for those for that are looking for something a little more complex.

Cardhu is also home to the world-famous Johnnie Walker blend, and visitors to the distillery can experience both the history of the single malt, and the story of the renowned blend. Where is the Cardhu Distillery?
From Elgin take the A941 south to Rothes, continue for 3 miles then travel west on the B9102 for approximately 7 miles.
From Grantown-on-Spey take the B9102 north east for approximately 17 miles.
From Aberdeen take the A96 north west for approximately 38 miles and then turn left onto the A920 for approximately 13 miles.
Once you get to Dufftown follow the signs for Craigellachie, continue through Craigellachie to the A941 at this junction turn right follow the signs for Cardhu.

What are the distillery opening times?
Our opening times at Cardhu are Monday – Friday during November and December. We will be Monday – Saturday during October however we are on our annual silent season so not tours are possible between Monday 22nd October – Friday 16th November.

During October/November we carry out our annual Silent Season so tours may not always be possible. We highly recommend phoning in advance during this period.
Tours tend to run on the hour throughout the day with the last tour 1 hour before closing.

Do you have wheelchair access?
Disabled persons including those with guide dogs and other assistance dogs are welcome at our 12 distillery visitor centres.
We will make reasonable adjustments to the distillery visitor tour that we offer at each visitor centre to ensure that disabled persons including those with guide dogs or other assistance dogs have a positive visitor experience and, above all else, remain safe.
The unique layout of each distillery location and visitor centre means that the reasonable adjustments we make at each distillery may vary.
If you are a guide dog assisted person we ask you to book your visit in advance highlighting your specific requirements so that we can endeavour to deliver a positive visitor experience.

Share with us the story of the only malt distillery pioneered by a woman. The malt whisky produced here has a warmth and cleanliness of taste which experts describe as "silky" and is used in some of the award winning Johnnie Walker blends.

Following a guided tour of the distillery, guests will be guided through a nosing and tasting of 3 whiskies. To add to the experience guests will be provided with a scorecard and nose and taste the whiskies blind (Don’t worry you won’t be blindfolded!). The winner who guesses all three whiskies correctly will win bragging rights and be added to our hall of fame. All guests will also receive a complimentary Cardhu Dram Glass.

A guided tour of the whisky making process at Cardhu Distillery and a short history of it being pioneered by a woman. During your experience you will have the opportunity to enjoy and compare 6 of our single malts. Guests will also take home a complimentary Glencairn Glass. Please note this tour only runs Monday to Friday.
Tutored Nosing & Tasting - Book here
Our tutored nosing and tastings gives our visitor the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of single malts and blends. You will be guided through your tutored nosing and tasting by one of our guides who can also recommend whiskies you may wish to try. As our tastings options are very popular please call ahead to make a reservation.
